Easy and Effective Way for a Beginner in Their 50s
I’m 50 and just getting back into a workout routine, and the CAP Barbell Adjustabell has been perfect for me. It’s incredibly easy to adjust weights—from lighter for warm-ups to heavier for strength training—and switching between exercises is smooth and fast thanks to the dial mechanism. The handle has a good grip, even with sweaty palms, and the compact design fits neatly in my home gym space, saving me the hassle of storing multiple dumbbells. I’ve been able to do a full range of moves, curls, presses, rows, even squats without feeling awkward. The adjustment process is intuitive and quick, so I stay focused on my form and reps. While these aren’t the most heavy-duty dumbbells out there, they’ve been solid for beginner-to-intermediate use. That extra convenience of not having a big set of weights cluttering up my space is worth it.Overall, if you’re starting or restarting your fitness journey later in life, this dumbbell is a fantastic tool. It’s reliable, easy to use, and great value for what it offers.

Well made product
Thought I would give these some time before I reviewed them. They are well made. I have been using them consistently for 4 months now. They are not the kind of hex bells you can dump on the floor just because of the nature of how they are built. That said, if you have limited space like I do in my apartment and don’t typically throw your dumbbells around anyway, these work great. The dial is really handy and you get an audible “click” when you make an adjustment. The numbers are clearly labeled on both sides of the unit. Grip is solid. They can be removed with no trouble and put back into the base with limited effort (Other than lining up the unit with the base which one could expect from an adjustable dumbbell). In ending money well spent. CAP has some really decent products that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Great dumbbell, saves space, 5lb increments.
I use these 3 times a week and they are great. Sliding them on and off the holder is at times a bit difficult to align but slow and steady gets the job done. I can’t imagine the other kinds don’t have similar experience. These just work. Only thing I’d like is if they could go between the 5s, like 2.5 lb increments. But I knew that when I purchased great product. Grip is solid but may be a bit large for small hands. Weight adjustment is solid and I’m not worried they will fall out. I’m happy with these.

Good Adjustable Dumbbells for the Price Point
After doing a lot of research on adjustable dumbbells, I selected the CAP 55# adjustable dumbbells. The dumbbells were delivered in excellent condition upon ordering. The dumbbells are very large (depending upon how much weight is selected) compared to conventional dumbbells, so this takes some getting use to. Most exercises can be performed without any hindrance from the large size bar. The dumbbells are made in China, and have a 2 year warranty. One negative: both of my dumbbells have a small metal burr on the handle collar from manufacturing. The burr is sharp and causes discomfort when using the dumbbells with bare hands. I recommend wearing lifting gloves when in use. Overall, the dumbbells are good quality and a good value for the money.

Very handy
This is a very handy and compact way to have a complete set of dumbbells. Normally, lighter weight dumbbells are smaller than heavier ones, so these feel a bit odd, at first, when using a lower weights. But it’s the weight that counts, so no stars deducted. Internals include some plastic parts, but they seem sturdy and there is an overall feeling of quality here. They feel solid and the detents in the twist system are positive. Some say it is hard to twist the grip, but that is better than having it twist accidentally during use and letting a weight drop out onto your foot. So just consider the stiff twisting another exercise. You’re supposed to be using these to build muscles, right?

Better than Bowflex? So far, I’m impressed.
I bought these adjustable dumbbells for use at a second home, and I’m honestly impressed. They’re easy to use and I like them just as much as my Bowflex set at my primary home. In fact, the center-trap handle adjustment is actually easier and more intuitive than the Bowflex, which requires changing each side individually. These also seem to slide into the tray more smoothly, which is a nice bonus. The only thing I can’t comment on yet is long-term durability…time will tell. But based on my first few sessions, I’m really glad I took a chance on these. So far, they’re a great value.

Great quality and value. Ideal for the casual / beginner weightlifters. Saves a ton of space and is made of good quality. Don’t waste your money on the 5-25 pound dumbbells that you’ll have to upgrade from in no time. Get these instead. 10-55 pounds each.

I prefer the octagonal ones so they don’t roll around, but overall great quality. Exactly what you would expect, and the ease of adjusting the dumbells is top notch.

Just started using them and so far I love them. Easy to adjust, convenient and seem to be made well. I will edit this down the road for their longevity and durability.

Good quality and value for the price. Can be a bit finicky to seat the dumbbells among the plates remaining in cradle if you rush or you’re depleted from set performed to failure — just slow down, and get on with it. No annoying rattle or clacking discernible while in use… at least not while *I’m* using them. I’d recommend affixing the cradles to a sturdy table, box or whatever else; or setting them on a non-slip rubber mat on the floor, otherwise, you’ll be chasing them around while trying to slot the dumbbell. There are two screw-holes per cradle; use pan-head screws with washers.
