I just received my Bowflex SelectTech 552 adjustable dumbbells from Amazon, purchased recently in late 2025, so these should be the redesigned “Results Series” version with the supposedly upgraded metal selector disks meant to fix the issues that led to the big 2025 recall.
Unfortunately, the problems persist. The plates still rattle excessively during any dynamic movement—like curls or presses—making workouts noisy and distracting. The locking mechanism feels only marginally better; weights sometimes hang up when trying to dock or undock them, and I’m constantly worried a plate might loosen despite the “enhancements.” They’re bulky, the handle grip is slippery when sweaty, and for the premium price, this just doesn’t feel like a reliable or high-quality piece of equipment.
I expected the redesign to fully resolve the safety and durability concerns, but it falls short. Regret the purchase—looking to return and switch to a competitor’s adjustable dumbbells instead. Not worth the risk or frustration.

Perfect home gym addition
These are the best adjustable dumbbells out there. Fast weight changes and very secure. I like them better than my power blocks

Impressive dumbells.
Very impressed with these dumbells. They are ergonomic and easy to use. No more piles or racks of dumbells. They are good looking, work as advertised and I recommend them. Shipping was fast and no damage at all to the container. Glad I have them.

Love these!
High quality, surprisingly not too bulky while lifting, well built. Easy to adjust and premium feel. I am unfamiliar with the version that was recalled but I can attest to the current version that is shipping being great. Only knock if I was being nitpicking is that I wish the grip was knurled instead of rubber. Great solution for a compact dumbbell set replacement.

High quality
They aren’t cheap, but you get what you pay for. We have used them a lot over the last four months and they are holding up perfectly. Highly recommend for the home gym.

What I expected from BowFlex
Top notch quality I expected from BowFlex branding. If you want to save space, have versatility, and they are in your budget, they are worth it. Investing in a stand is suggested, but not required for function.

These are great
These adjustable dumbbells work great. Very clever and easy to use mechanism for adjusting between 5 and 52.5 lbs. And they take up very little space.
