Nice Scalp Massage but Not Ideal for Thick Type 4 Hair
I have type 4 hair that is thick and coarse, so the first thing I noticed when using this scalp massager is that it is not something I can brush through my hair. I usually avoid bristles with rounded ball tips because my hair tends to snag in them, and that was the case here as well. Because of that, I had to adjust how I used the device.Instead of brushing through my hair, I parted my hair into smaller sections and placed the massager directly onto the exposed scalp areas where I wanted the massage and light to reach. I would lift it and move it to another section rather than dragging it through my hair. Unless my hair is flat ironed or pressed beforehand, there is no way this would glide through my hair in its natural state, which is how I wear it most of the time.One thing I was not able to figure out was the purpose of the different light colors. I am new to light therapy products, and I could not find clear information in the product description or the instruction booklet explaining what each light color is meant to do or what benefits they offer. Because of that, I am not entirely sure what results I am getting from the light modes themselves, although the massage feature did feel very nice on my scalp.I also chose not to use the oil applicator feature. I use very thick oils on my hair, and I did not want to risk clogging the applicator without an easy way to clean it out. Instead, I applied my usual oil directly to my scalp first and then used the massager afterward. Used this way, it still felt soothing and worked well for a targeted scalp massage.

This head massager is a game changer!! I love that it provides three different light types. I also really like the way it distributes the oil, you just insert as much product as you want through the plug on the back, then make sure it’s sealed back up all the way, and then as you massage your head, the little roller balls release the oil. You don’t have to press anything; it just naturally comes out on its own.The massaging feels really nice on the scalp, it actually reminds me of when I’m getting my hair done and my stylist scratches my scalp with her fingernails (in a good way!). I also like how the bristles are shaped like brush bristles, so it doesn’t tangle your hair as long as you move it downward.The price is good for this item. I haven’t had any issues and don’t foresee any. The only small thing is that when I turn it off and the bristles are all poking out, it can be a little hard to put the cap back on. I also recommend always putting the cap back on to keep dust and debris off the bristles so it doesn’t get dirty.Overall, I think this is awesome! I may even get these as gifts in the future. It’s very calming and soothing, and it really helps create a relaxing moment.
